During the height of the rebel conflicts in Northern Uganda, many children commuted into the larger cities every night to spend the night, even if on the street, because of fear of night-time LRA attacks, abductions, and killing in their villages. There are still many who do not trust that the LRA has retreated away from Northern Uganda, so there are still some Night Commuters.
